Lauren's Baby Shower

It was a busy week last week getting ready for Lauren's baby shower for her baby girl that is due next month. If you know anything about my in-laws then you likely know that when it comes to throwing a party, it's ALL-OUT or nothin'. It was so much fun decorating with my mother-in-law's awesome stash of decor and making a few things too (like the banner and crown) to add to all the cuteness of the evening. My toosh was totally sore by the end of the night from going up and down the ladder to get those lanterns on that chandelier, but it was worth it!
Monette had the most beautiful table settings and flowers for the dinner.
And it was the perfect evening outdoors!
Lauren with her in-laws
The grub was amazing. All the family members contributed to this perfect meal.
The Baby Mama!
Cousins just 4 1/2 months apart!
Kate's classic 'face in the hole'....
Time for presents!!!
But first, a poem - something that started here and became tradition after doing it again here, here, and for my father-in-law's 50th (which I don't have on the blog for some reason). I'll post this shower's poem below if you're interested and wanna know extra fun deets of their pregnancy ;)
Kate's quilt - so beautiful!
Dessert..... heaven.
And more of the family that was there!
Yummy cookies and favors thanks to Annie... so yummy

Lauren's Baby Shower Poem:

Lauren and Mike,
Sitting in a tree,
doing a little more than KISSING

But before we go there,
Let's go back to 1986,
To when a little brown haired beauty
Was born into the Magleby mix

So sweet, kind, and sensitive,
she developed skill after skill,
crafting, baking, sewing,
this girl is no “run of the mill.”

June 2010,
She became Mrs. Reid,
That's when the pressure started,
"Hey Lauren & Mike! It's time to breed!"

When would Jayne & Vinny have a Mag cousin?
Was our number one question,
Not that we needed anything
To further fuel Monette's baby shopping obsession.

October 2011 Conference,
was what inspired this soon-to-be birth,
Neil L. Anderson's amazing talk,
on the important calling of multiplying and replenishing the earth.

January was the time,
to start doing some serious lovin',
It only took one week,
To get that bun in the oven.

At 6 1/2 weeks
Was when the fun really began,
Barfing multiple times a day,
and getting on that blessed generic Zofran.

Mike was sure it was a boy,
and if you disagreed he'd put up a small fight,
But he should have known better,
that the pencil test is always right.

Don't worry cause at 20 weeks,
After lots of patient waiting,
They learned it was a girl, he was SO excited,
And instantly stressed about her future dating.

A big move to michigan,
And another ultrasound,
Lauren discovered her worst fear,
The babies' head will likely weigh 10 pounds.

but don't you worry, she'll be the cutest thing ever- don't you know?
something about those porter/magleby genes,
you get that in your bloodline?
and you're good to go.

so as you prepare for sleepless nights,
blowouts, lots of spit up, just know this -
That little Violet Reid is one lucky little miss.

Mike is going to be such a fun-loving Dad,
And you’ll be an incredible mother,
And then 9 months after birth,
You can bless her with a little baby brother!

Lauren we are SO
very excited for you,
It's been a blast celebrating,
Congratulations, WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Your poem was hilarious. Just a heads up -- all I want for my birthday is for you to write one for me!
